Known issues on the 2000 Tundra. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three of them are separate campaigns against the same fault: a tail light socket that may have been improperly molded, leaving the locking tab with insufficient force to retain the bulb, and if the bulb falls out of the socket the brake or tail lamp function cannot occur. A fourth covers the frame, members and underbody shields on trucks originally sold in or currently registered in a named list of states including Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine and Maryland, where separation of the spare tire and diminished brake capacity could increase the risk of a crash. A fifth is an equipment recall on aftermarket headlamps, the combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies, where decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash. The sixth, filed under trailer hitches, covers trailer towing wire harness converters installed on 1999-2000 Toyota Tundra and Tacoma vehicles, in which an electrical short or open circuit can cause a fault in the converter. Owners have filed 1,334 complaints for the year, and Toyota has issued 99 technical service bulletins.
