Known issues on the 2022 Tundra. Eleven recalls are on federal record for this model year, and three of them concern the rearview image. Two cover trucks equipped with the Panoramic View Monitor system and the parking assist electronic control unit software behind it: on one, a rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver’s view of what is behind the vehicle; on the other, a camera that fails to display the correct image can reduce the driver’s rear view. A third comes from a software error that may cause the rearview image not to display, which reduces the driver’s view behind the vehicle. A fourth software fault sits in the combination meter’s electronic control unit, where a blank display will not show critical information such as the speedometer or warning lights. On the powertrain side, the flange nuts on the axle shaft sub-assemblies can loosen over time, and axle shaft separation can cause a loss of vehicle stability and brake performance; a separate automatic transmission recall covers unexpected vehicle movement, which can increase the risk of a crash; and trucks built with the V35A engine are recalled over debris from the manufacturing process, where a loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. The plastic fuel tube routed near metallic brake lines may chafe against them, and a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. Another recall covers the Skid Control ECU within the brake actuator assembly, where an electronic parking brake that cannot be engaged while in “park” may result in a vehicle rollaway. Trucks fitted with a Toyota genuine accessory tonneau cover are included as well, since a tonneau cover that detaches while driving can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. On others the load carrying capacity modification label states the incorrect load carrying capacity, and an overloaded vehicle increases the risk of a crash. Owners have filed 604 complaints against the 2022 Tundra, and 228 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
