The 2019 Toyota Tundra is a full-size, body-on-frame pickup powered by one of two gasoline V8s: the 5.7L V8 (3UR-FE, or 3UR-FBE in flex-fuel form) and the 4.6L V8 (1UR-FE), each turning the rear wheels or all four through a six-speed automatic. Cab and trim choices run from the base SR through SR5 and Limited trucks in Extra Cab and Crew Cab form up to the Platinum, the 1794 Edition and the off-road TRD Pro.

Known issues on the 2019 Tundra. Eight recalls reach this model year. Two involve the hydraulic power steering gear assembly: one covers JTEKT power steering gear assembly service parts for 2007-2021 Tundra and 2008-2022 Sequoia, the other covers 2008-2022 Sequoia and 2007-2021 Tundra vehicles whose power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly. In both, an oil leak may cause a sudden loss of power steering assist, increasing the risk of a crash. Two involve the fuel pump, in campaigns that swept up the Tundra along with other Toyota and Lexus models; if the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Two involve load capacity labels: one covers 2019 Tundra standard and long bed trucks equipped with a spray-in bed liner, over the load carrying capacity modification label, and an overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash; the other is a Gulf States Toyota campaign covering certain 2019 vehicles including the Tundra, where a driver who cannot read the label may unknowingly overload the vehicle. The last two involve lighting: one covers 2018-2020 Tundra vehicles equipped with LED headlight assemblies, where a wiring error affects the front turn signals and the stated concern is turn signals or hazard lamps that do not flash brightly enough; the other covers 2018-2021 Tundra vehicles whose headlight electrical circuits may power the high and low beams simultaneously, where an overheated electrical connector can increase the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 103 complaints against the 2019 Tundra, and 116 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
Both V8s come from Toyota's UR family and share the same aluminum-block, dual-overhead-cam layout, so the 4.6L and the 5.7L differ more in specification than in method. The campaign history above points away from the engines themselves and toward the steering gear, the fuel pump and the headlight wiring as the places these trucks ask for attention.
