Scion Service & Repair Manuals

Browse Scion service and repair manuals covering the entire Scion lineup, from the launch year in 2004 through the brand's final 2016 model year — the complete factory-style reference for every Scion sold in North America.

Scion was Toyota's youth-oriented sub-brand, built around a fixed-price model and a tight, focused lineup. Every car the brand released — the boxy xB and xA, the sport coupe tC, the FR-S rear-wheel-drive sport coupe (later renamed the Toyota 86), the city-car iQ, the iA sedan, and the iM hatchback — is documented in this collection at the trim and drivetrain level.

Coverage by Scion era

2004–2007 (the launch era): The xA, xB, and tC defined the brand. Manuals cover the Toyota-platform 1NZ-FE and 2AZ-FE engines, U341E automatic, and the early-generation chassis electrical layouts.

2008–2012 (the expansion era): Second-generation xB on a wider chassis, the xD replacing the xA, the iQ compact city car, and the second-generation tC with the 2AR-FE engine and 6-speed manual.

2013–2016 (the FR-S era): The FR-S brought the FA20 flat-four and Subaru-Toyota platform partnership; the iA and iM filled out the lineup before the brand was wound down and folded into Toyota for the 2017 model year.

FR-S and the Subaru-Toyota partnership

The Scion FR-S manual covers the FA20 2.0L flat-four (shared with the Subaru BRZ), the rear-wheel-drive layout, the Aisin AZ6 6-speed manual transmission, the Torsen limited-slip differential on later trims, and the chassis electrical and ABS calibration unique to the FR-S. After 2016 the same platform continued as the Toyota 86 — the FR-S manual is the original factory reference for that platform.

Frequently asked questions

Which Scion models are covered?

Every Scion sold in North America: tC, xA, xB, xD, FR-S, iQ, iA, and iM — across all model years from the brand's launch in 2004 through its final 2016 lineup. Filter by year to see exactly which trims are available for the model year you need.

Do these manuals include wiring diagrams?

Yes. Every Scion manual contains the complete Wiring Diagrams chapter plus chassis electrical, engine electrical, and component-location references specific to the model year and trim.

Are automatic and manual transmissions both covered?

Yes. Every manual documents both transmission options where the trim was offered with both — the Aisin 4-speed and 5-speed automatics on the early lineup, the U660E 6-speed automatic on the later tC, and the Aisin AZ6 6-speed manual on the FR-S.

Is the FR-S manual the same as the Toyota 86?

The FR-S and Toyota 86 share the platform, FA20 engine, and most of the chassis. The FR-S service manual is the original factory reference for the 2013–2016 model years; the Toyota 86 manual continues from 2017 onward under the Toyota brand.

How is each manual structured?

Every Scion manual follows the same layout: General Information & Identification, Maintenance & Lubrication, Engine Mechanical, Engine Performance & Emission Controls, Engine Cooling, Engine Electrical, Transmission & Driveline, Brakes, Steering, Suspension, Body, Chassis Electrical, HVAC, Wiring Diagrams, Specifications, Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Technical Service Bulletins.
