Known issues on the 2005 tC. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers the air bag inflators used in the side, curtain shield and knee air bag assemblies: some were produced with an insufficient amount of the heating agents needed for proper deployment, so the expansion force of the gas may be too low to inflate the bag properly when the SRS system is activated during a crash, which may increase the risk of injury to the occupant in the involved seating position. A second covers the side impact seat-bolster and curtain side airbags, which may inadvertently deploy when the door on that side of the vehicle is closed with a high rate of force while the ignition is in the ON position or within 90 seconds of turning it off, and could injure an occupant seated on that side of the vehicle. A third covers the glass wind deflector, on cars equipped with one: if it is struck by a projectile such as road debris at highway speeds while tilted upward, it may shatter and separate from the frame, and pieces of the glass can fall on occupants, causing driver distraction and/or injury. The fourth is a labeling recall from Gulf States Toyota, covering certain vehicles sold between September 1, 2005 and June 2, 2008 without the requisite load carrying capacity modification labels, which does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
