Fitment is the whole point of this one: the 2008 Scion tC service and repair manual is tied to your exact year, engine and trim — the 2.4L four-cylinder (2AZ-FE) as Scion built it for 2008 — so the clearances, torque sequences and diagnostic steps you work from are the ones published for this model year, not a close-enough figure carried over from a neighboring one.

Known issues on the 2008 tC. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year, and all three sit under equipment labeling rather than a mechanical part. The first covers vehicles that were not equipped with load carrying capacity modification labels; incorrect load carrying capacity modification labels could result in the vehicle being overloaded. The second, from Southeast Toyota, covers vehicles that fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims": a driver may overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of a crash. The third, from Gulf States Toyota, cites the same standard, and the recall record says only that this does not meet the standard requirements. Owners have filed 109 complaints for the year and 46 technical service bulletins are on record. The load and tire data those labels point to, and the diagnostic and repair procedures behind the systems owners report on, are here.
Whether you are confirming a load or tire specification before a wheel change, tracing a fault owners have reported before, or just working a scheduled service interval, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the right specification for this 2008 tC.

Uses too much oil between oil change. 1quart low at 2000 miles. Should not burn this much oil. I have researched other vehicles having this same issue and this needs to be fixed. I checked Toyota website but it doesn’t show a recall for this car and it is have an issue that needs to be corrected. I scheduled an appointment for Jan 8th and hope they can get it fixed. But after reading what others have experienced for the same reason it will be more money out of my pocket due to Toyota not followi

THIS CAR IS VERY HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION, I BROUGHT TO DEALER AND HAVE IT TESTED TWICE, BUT DEALER SAID NOT QUALIFIED. FIRST TEST WAS 11-09-15, SECOND TEST WAS 07-28-17. MY CAR HAS NO LEAKING OIL, AND ITS ODOMETER 65K CURRENTLY.
I HAVE NEWISH WHEELS AND TIRES. LAST YEAR I TOOK MY CAR INTO LES SCHAWB TO GET AN ALIGNMENT DONE ON MY CAR THINKING THAT IS WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THE GUY AFTERWARDS TOLD ME HE FIXED IT AS WELL AS HE COULD BUT WONDERED IF I HAD HIT SOMETHING IN THE BACK AND THAT'S ALL HE TOLD ME. MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BACK AND FOURTH RAPIDLY WHEN I AM COMING TO A STOP. MY CAR CAN NOT DRIVE STRAIGHT AT ALL EITHER WHILE I'M ON THE RODE. IT WILL PULL TO THE LEFT SO I TURN IT THE OPPOSITE WAY JUST A TINY BIT AND I

Additionally, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that oil was leaking into the piston rings. The contact stated that an unknown code illuminated for the catalytic converter. The
2008 Scion TC engine suffers from an engineering flaw with its Piston Rings, it suffers from excessive Oil Consumption. It started at 65k miles on the engine. Total disaster.
