Known issues on the 2010 xB. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year, and four of them concern the same part: the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator module, where an inflator explosion — a rupture, in the earliest of the four — may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. A fifth covers the power window master switch, where grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts; if the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire. Another covers TRD brake kits sold as an optional accessory for the xB, whose brake hoses may fatigue and fail over time, and failure of a brake hose will reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash. The last two are label recalls: cars delivered without the requisite load carrying capacity modification labels do not meet the standard requirements, and a driver may overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of a crash.
