2003 Chevrolet Astro Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 Chevrolet Astro is organized around one drivetrain and four bodies. The drivetrain begins with a 4.3-liter V6 of 262 cubic inches, overhead-valve and naturally aspirated on gasoline; the bodies are extended and standard three-door vans in cargo and passenger form; the trims are Base, LS and LT. Front suspension, steering and brake specifications are given with their torque values, and the electrical sections carry complete diagrams for each body and equipment level.

Known issues on the 2003 Astro. Three recalls are on the record for this year, and the front suspension carries the most consequential one: the lower ball joint boot can be cut where it interferes with the steering knuckle, and a ball joint that loses its seal can eventually let the knuckle separate from the lower control arm and drop that corner of the van. A replacement fuel filter that leaks at its connection and replacement lamps without amber reflectors are the other two. Suspension shows in nine of the 89 complaints, behind 21 on brakes and 14 on electrical.
CERTAIN MINIVANS HAVE AN INTERFERENCE CONDITION BETWEEN THE LOWER BALL JOINT RUBBER BOOT AND THE STEERING KNUCKLE (BOTH LEFT/RIGHT SIDES), WHICH COULD RESULT IN CUTTING OF THE BOOT
THE STEERING KNUCKLE COULD SEPARATE FROM THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, DROPPING DOWN THE AFFECTED
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STEERING KNUCKLES. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON AP
