2002 Chevrolet Astro Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2002 Chevrolet Astro describes a van whose mechanical specification had settled: one engine, the naturally aspirated 4.3-liter overhead-valve V6 of 262 cubic inches on gasoline, and four bodies, the three-door cargo and passenger vans in standard and extended length, in Base, LS or LT trim. Settled hardware makes the diagnostic sections the working part of the book — trouble-code procedures, circuit testing and component specifications for the engine controls, brakes and body electrical systems.

Known issues on the 2002 Astro. Three recalls remain on the federal record. An open circuit can form in the multifunction switch, killing the stop lamps and hazard lamps together and removing any signal to traffic behind. A replacement fuel filter can seal poorly at its connection and release fuel near an ignition source. Replacement lamp assemblies without amber side reflectors make up the third. Owners logged 83 complaints, 22 of them on service brakes, 12 on the electrical system and nine on steering — systems the brake, wiring and steering chapters specify in full.
