1990 Chevrolet Astro Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1990 Chevrolet Astro has twice the body count of the earlier books: extended and standard lengths, each as a three-door cargo van and a three-door passenger van. Power still comes from either the 262-cubic-inch 4.3-liter overhead-valve V6 or the 151-cubic-inch 2.5-liter overhead-valve four, naturally aspirated on gasoline, and the trims remain Base, CL, CS and LT. The added length matters most in the body and electrical chapters, where the diagrams are drawn per body style.

Known issues on the 1990 Astro. Seven recalls stand against this year federally. A fuel return hose can break where it is crimped to its coupling and spill fuel; a replacement fuel filter can fail to seal at its connection and do much the same. Restraints account for two more — belts positioned above the pelvis, and a rear anchorage bar that will not take crash loads — and a seat recliner joint can loosen until its bolts break. Service brakes dominate the 80 complaints with 32, well ahead of steering at nine, and the hydraulic and foundation brake procedures here answer them.
