This factory service and repair manual for the 1988 Chevrolet Astro serves a van offered two ways mechanically and two ways structurally. Known issues on the 1988 Astro. The federal record lists five recalls for the year. Belts at the front and mid-ship positions can sit above the pelvis rather than low across it, leaving an occupant loosely restrained; a driver's seat recliner joint can lose clamp load, fatigue its bolts and let the backrest drop; a replacement fuel filter can seal badly and weep fuel; and two recalls cover replacement lamps supplied without amber side reflectors. Complaints run to 61, led by steering at 15 and engine and engine cooling at 13, both systems this manual diagnoses in full.
