Known issues on the 1998 Astro. Six recalls appear federally for this year. The most serious mechanism is electrical: a short circuit can develop in the outside mirror switch, heating the driver's door and, in the worst case, igniting components inside it. Integrated child seats can lack a retractor spring, so the belt locks or fails to restrain. A belt reminder that may not sound, a replacement fuel filter that can leak at its connection and two sets of lamps without amber reflectors complete it. Of 293 complaints, visibility leads at 45 and service brakes follow at 38.
