Known issues on the 2001 Grand Prix. Passenger air bags account for part of the 6 recalls on the 2001 Grand Prix. Certain 2001 Grand Prix vehicles had passenger inflator modules loaded with the wrong amount of gas-producing propellant: a double charge could make the module burst, while an empty one would leave the bag flat. Certain 2001 Grand Prix vehicles had a passenger bag assembled without a check valve pin, so deployment pressure could spike, then fade. The risk of oil reaching the exhaust manifold on certain 2001 Grand Prix vehicles with 3.8L engines is behind other campaigns. Of 308 complaints, 102 involve engine and engine cooling; 106 reported a fire, 14 a crash, 7 an injury and 6 a death. Air bag and engine procedures apply.
