Manual reclining mechanisms in the front seats of certain 1993 Grand Prix vehicles failed to meet the federal seating standard because the seat backs would not always lock, so a seat could tip back unexpectedly and upset the driver's control of the car. Dealers installed new recliner mechanisms; the recall covered 5,574 vehicles. Complaints number 131: the hydraulic service brakes draw 57 and the electrical system 32. Of those complaints, 11 reported a crash, 9 an injury, 8 a fire and 1 a death.
