On certain 1997 Grand Prix vehicles with the naturally aspirated 3.8L V6, oil could drip onto the exhaust manifold under hard braking, slip past the heat shield and ignite. Certain 1997 Grand Prix vehicles with the supercharged 3.8L ran hotter at the front rocker cover gasket, which could degrade and seep oil toward the same manifold. On certain 1997 Grand Prix vehicles the wiper crank arm could come apart and stop the wipers. Of 810 complaints, 216 involve steering; 109 reported a fire, 34 a crash, 27 an injury and 1 a death.
