On certain 2000 Grand Prix vehicles, 111 of them, the passenger air bag inflator had an opening that was too small and could rupture during deployment, scattering debris. Certain 2000 Grand Prix vehicles with particular TRW seat belt buckles had buckle bases that were not properly hardened and might not restrain an occupant in a crash. The chance of oil seeping or dripping onto the hot exhaust manifold, a fire risk, drove the other campaigns on certain 2000 Grand Prix vehicles with 3.8L engines.
