Known issues on the 1999 Safari. Three recalls are on the federal record. The audible seat belt reminder may fail to sound at all or may stop short of the four seconds the occupant protection standard requires. Replacement fuel filters can seal poorly at the connection and release fuel toward an ignition source. Replacement exterior lamps supplied without amber side reflectors leave the van poorly marked at night. Owner complaints number 88, with 22 on the service brakes, 17 on the power train and nine on the engine and cooling system, all of which have their own diagnostic procedures here.
