1992 GMC Safari Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 GMC Safari is written around the 4.3L V6, a 262-cubic-inch overhead-valve gasoline engine breathing without forced induction, in a van that reached buyers as an extended or standard cargo van and an extended or standard passenger van, each with three doors. Base, SLE and SLT are the trims listed. Every one of those variants is served by the same set of procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics, arranged so the correct figure can be found by system.

Known issues on the 1992 Safari. Three recalls are on the federal record. Two of them concern fuel: replacement central multiport injection return lines whose bleed valve can leak, and replacement fuel filters that may not seal at their connection, either of which can put gasoline near an ignition source. The third is the two-piece brake rotor that corrodes at its joint and can separate, costing braking at that wheel. Complaints run to 66, half of them, 33, on the service brakes, with ten on the suspension and five on the electrical system, all systems this manual diagnoses and specifies.
SEVERE CORROSION DUE TO ROAD SALT AT THE JOINT OF THE STAMPED STEEL CENTER SECTION AND THE CAST OUTER SECTION CAN CAUSE THE SECTIONS TO SEPARATE.
SEPARATION OF THE ROTOR SECTIONS CAN CAUSE LOSS OFBRAKING ABILITY IN THE AFFECTED WHEEL. THIS COULD
