1987 GMC Safari Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1987 Safari. Two recalls are recorded federally for this year. One involves replacement fuel filters that can fail to seal at the connection and leak gasoline where it may be ignited. The other describes recliner bolts sitting on a soft joint of foam or vinyl, losing their clamping torque, fatiguing and finally breaking, which lets the driver's seatback recline without warning. Owner complaints number 22, clustering on the engine and cooling system with six, then the steering with three and the body structure with two.
