1991 GMC Safari Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1991 GMC Safari drops to a single engine, the naturally aspirated 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches with overhead valves and gasoline fueling. What multiplies instead is the bodywork: extended and standard cargo vans and extended and standard passenger vans, each with three doors, sold as Base, SLE or SLT. With one powerplant to describe, the engine, driveline and electrical sections carry a single set of specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostic procedures that apply straight across the range.

Known issues on the 1991 Safari. Four recalls appear on the federal record. Brake rotors can corrode where the stamped center meets the cast outer section, and the two can separate under braking. A rear seat belt anchorage bar could not sustain the load the restraint standard requires. Recliner bolts bearing on trapped foam lose torque, fatigue and break, letting a seatback fall away under the occupant. Replacement fuel filters may not seal at the connection, leaking fuel near an ignition source. Owner complaints total 52, and 18 of them are about the service brakes, with four each on the steering and the seats.
SEVERE CORROSION DUE TO ROAD SALT AT THE JOINT OF THE STAMPED STEEL CENTER SECTION AND THE CAST OUTER SECTION CAN CAUSE THE SECTIONS TO SEPARATE.
SEPARATION OF THE ROTOR SECTIONS CAN CAUSE LOSS OFBRAKING ABILITY IN THE AFFECTED WHEEL. THIS COULD
