This factory service and repair manual for the 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo has two engines to work through rather than a long list: the 5.0L V8 of 305 cubic inches and the 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, both overhead-valve, naturally aspirated and fueled by gasoline. Known issues on the 1988 Monte Carlo. Two recalls are on the federal record for this year, and both arrived as replacement parts fitted during service.
