Known issues on the 1982 Monte Carlo. Two recalls sit on the federal record for this year. One reaches the car through replacement equipment: an oil filter that can seal inadequately, lose engine oil and raise the risk of a fire. The other is internal to the diesel injection pump, where a failed governor weight retainer can leave the throttle valve stuck so the engine will not return to idle or shut down when the driver asks.
