1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo covers three trims, Base, LS and SS, on one two-door coupe body, with three engines to choose between: a 5.0L V8 of 305 cubic inches and a 4.3L V6 of 262 cubic inches, both overhead-valve, and a 3.8L V6 of 231 cubic inches, every one of them naturally aspirated and running on gasoline. Known issues on the 1986 Monte Carlo. Four recalls are on the federal record for this year. Two of them concern the push-pull headlight switch, whose electrical contacts can make and break intermittently so the headlights flicker or go out altogether in severe weather or at night. A third covers replacement fuel filters that can seal poorly at the connection and leak fuel near an ignition source, and the fourth covers replacement oil filters that can lose engine oil the same way.
