Known issues on the 1987 E-350 Econoline Club Wagon. Eight recalls are on federal record for the 1987 wagon, and fire is the thread running through most of them: a heater hose that could be misrouted and wear through, engine compartment hoses that could deteriorate, fuel forced out of the filler pipe under severe duty, and wiring harness ties that could break and let the harness short against the engine. VEHICLES ARE SUBJECT TO EXCESSIVE UNDERHOOD TEMPERATURES AND FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURES IN SEVERE DUTY APPLICATIONS.
NYLON TIES THAT SUPPORT THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS TO THE CHASSIS COULD WEAR AND BREAK DUE TO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION. THUS, WIRING HARNESS COULD FALL ON ENGINE COMPONENTS AND SHORT CIRCUIT.
