Known issues on the 2022 Explorer. The federal record carries eight recalls for this year. The engine rails might have been improperly heat-treated, reducing structural protection in a crash; the fuel filler tube could detach in a crash and leak fuel; and a loose bolt inside the automatic transmission could keep it from engaging the park gear even though the shifter indicated park, so the truck could roll away. Owners have filed 258 complaints with NHTSA, most on the power train at 54, the electrical system at 29 and the fuel system at 13.
