2006 Ford Explorer Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Ford Explorer is written for the single overhead-cam 4.0L V6 and the single overhead-cam 4.6L V8, both naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled, in the 4-door sport utility body. Known issues on the 2006 Explorer. Four recalls are on federal record for this year. The windshield wiper motor could be built without grease on the output shaft gear, and after continuous high-speed use the gear could distort or fracture; aftermarket seat covers made of heavier thread were incompatible with seats containing side air bags; and replacement tempered glass from one supplier might not break safely. Owners have filed 635 complaints with NHTSA, concentrated on the power train at 279, engine and engine cooling at 163 and service brakes at 30.
