2007 Ford Explorer Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 2007 Explorer. Three recalls are on the federal record. The two bolts attaching the steering gear to the frame could have been over-tightened and could fracture, leaving the gear loose with a clunking noise and reduced steering effectiveness; aftermarket seat covers with heavier thread could interfere with side air bag deployment; and replacement tempered glass might not break into small pieces. Owners have filed 208 complaints with NHTSA, led by the power train at 54, seats at 19 and the electrical system at 18.
