Known issues on the 2020 Explorer. Eight recalls are on federal record for the 2020 model year. The drive shaft on all-wheel-drive trucks with the 10-speed automatic could fracture along its weld seam and allow a rollaway; the right-hand motor mount fasteners might be incorrectly tightened and loosen until the axle disconnected; and rear lower control arm bolts that skipped heat treatment could break and cause a loss of steering control. Owners have filed 1,201 complaints with NHTSA, most on the power train at 456, the electrical system at 138 and back-over prevention at 61.
