2008 Ford Explorer Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2008 Ford Explorer serves the 4-door sport utility with either the 4.0L V6 or the 4.6L V8, both single overhead-cam, naturally aspirated gasoline engines, in three trims: Eddie Bauer, Limited and XLT. Known issues on the 2008 Explorer. Three recalls are on federal record. On trucks with the 4.6L engine and the 6R transmission, the bolt securing the transmission oil cooler line fittings might be under-torqued, so the lines could disengage and leak fluid onto the catalytic converter; aftermarket seat covers of heavier thread were unsuitable for seats with side air bags; and replacement tempered glass might not break as designed. Owners have filed 148 complaints with NHTSA, spread over the power train at 35, the electrical system at 31 and steering at 13.
