This factory service and repair manual for the 2021 Chevrolet Malibu is written around a pair of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, the 2.0L of 122 cubic inches and the 1.5L of 91, both twin-cam and gasoline-fueled, in a four-door sedan sold as L, LS, LT, Premier or RS. Because the two engines share an approach rather than a displacement, boost, fuel delivery and emissions each have their own specifications, while the chassis, restraint and body electrical sections run common to the range.

Known issues on the 2021 Malibu. Two recalls apply. One covers rear seat belt retractors that may have loose or missing fasteners and so may not do their work in a crash. The other concerns the driver's seat cushion frame, where an improper weld in the power tilt adjustment mechanism can leave the frame unable to hold the driver in place during a collision. Complaints stand at 88, with 26 on the power train, 22 on the electrical system and 5 on the air bags. Seat and belt anchorage torque figures are given here, as are the transmission diagnostics.
