Known issues on the 2003 Malibu. Three recalls are recorded here. One concerns an accelerator pedal arm that can stick where it attaches to its bracket in hot weather and fail to return the engine to idle when the driver lifts off. Another is an ignition that can leave the key short of the run position, with the air bags possibly not deploying in a crash. The third covers a replacement fuel pressure regulator assembled without its O-ring and retainer, which can leak. Complaints number 611, concentrated at 272 on the electrical system, 72 on vehicle speed control and 48 on the service brakes.
