Known issues on the 2001 Malibu. Four recalls stand against this year. Solder joints in the hazard warning switch can crack from rapid temperature swings, and once the circuit opens the turn signals and hazard lamps work intermittently or not at all. An ignition that can fall out of the run position may leave the air bags undeployed in a crash. Replacement lamp assemblies without the required amber side reflectors and a replacement fuel pressure regulator built without its O-ring account for the other two. Owners filed 749 complaints, 268 on the electrical system, 132 on engine and cooling, 82 on exterior lighting.
