Known issues on the 2017 Sierra 1500. Five recalls sit on the federal record. The vacuum pump serving the brake booster can lose output over the years, which shows up as a hard pedal and a longer stop. A wheel speed sensor failure could set off the driveline protection function and brake one wheel on its own, tugging the truck off line. Front air bags and belt pretensioners could also fail to deploy in a crash. With 427 complaints, 134 on the power train, 99 on service brakes and 46 on the electrical system, those chapters get the most use.
