2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 adds a mild hybrid version of the 325-cubic-inch 5.3L V8 to a list that already held the flex-fuel 262-cubic-inch 4.3L V6, the flex-fuel or gasoline 5.3L V8 and the gasoline 376-cubic-inch 6.2L V8. All four are naturally aspirated with overhead valves. Standard cab, crew cab and extended cab pickups are covered in Base, Denali, SLE and SLT trim, with the hybrid's differences documented separately.

Known issues on the 2016 Sierra 1500. Seven recalls are recorded. Front upper control arms could be welded inadequately near the bushing, and a bad weld may let the arm pull away from the bushing and take the steering with it. Roof-rail air bag inflators are the subject of two campaigns for end caps that detach and sidewalls that rupture. A third mechanism, declining vacuum pump output, raises brake pedal effort over time. Complaints stop at 47 here, 10 on the power train, 7 on service brakes and 6 on steering, but suspension and brake procedures remain the practical core.
