Known issues on the 2011 Civic. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year. Eight concern the passenger frontal air bag inflator: five involve inflators that can explode or rupture after long-term exposure to high humidity and temperature, sending sharp metal fragments into the cabin with a risk of serious injury or death, and three involve replacement inflators installed incorrectly during dealer service, which can deploy improperly in a crash and increase the risk of injury. The ninth recall covers the fuel pump module, where improperly welded plastic housing can let the roll-over valve separate and fail, increasing the risk of fuel leakage in a rollover, which in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. Owners have filed 168 complaints for the year; no technical service bulletins are logged for the 2011 Civic in federal records.
