Known issues on the 2008 Civic. Seven recalls are on federal record for this model year. Six of them concern the passenger frontal air bag inflator: some cover replacement inflators that were installed incorrectly and can deploy improperly in a crash, while others cover inflators that degrade after long-term exposure to heat and humidity and can rupture, sending sharp metal fragments toward vehicle occupants and resulting in serious injury or death. The seventh covers the fuel hose connector bracket on 2008-2009 Civic sedans, where a missing nut let the bracket work loose in a crash, which could damage the fuel hose connector and lead to a fuel leak and fire risk.
