2004 Honda Civic Service and Repair Manual
Honda built the 2004 Civic across six different powerplants and fourteen distinct trims, so a generic Civic manual is a gamble on whether the torque specs and wiring even match what's under your hood — this factory service and repair manual is matched to your exact year, engine and trim, covering engines identified by their factory codes, including the D17A1, D17A2, D17A7, D17A6, LDA1 and K20A3, so the procedures are the ones Honda published for your specific car.

Known issues on the 2004 Civic. Fifteen recalls are on federal record for this model year, and the majority center on the Takata front air bag inflators: driver and passenger side modules that can rupture or explode after long-term exposure to humidity, temperature cycling and age, sending sharp metal fragments into the driver, front passenger or other occupants, plus a separate recall for passenger air bags that were incorrectly installed as a replacement part and may deploy improperly. Beyond the air bags, recalls cover curved replacement window glass that fails to break into small pieces as intended, four aftermarket headlight and corner-lamp recalls missing the required amber side reflectors, a CNG fuel tank pressure-relief device that may not vent properly during a severe rear-seat fire, and front seat belt anchors installed with an incorrect washer that can leave the belt improperly positioned for the occupant. Owners have filed 350 complaints for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From an air bag module inspection to a CNG tank check or routine service on any of the six engine options, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2004 Civic.
