Known issues on the 2009 Civic. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year, and seven of them trace back to the same part: the passenger frontal air bag inflator. Some units are flagged for propellant that can degrade and rupture, sending metal fragments toward the driver and other occupants, while others were flagged because a replacement inflator was installed incorrectly, either way risking improper deployment in a crash. The eighth recall covers a fuel hose connector bracket that can come loose, damaging the connector and creating a fuel leak that raises the risk of fire.
