Known issues on the 2000 Civic. Eighteen recalls are on federal record for this model year. Two cover the driver frontal air bag inflator module, where moisture absorption could cause the inflator to rupture in a crash, sending metal fragments toward occupants or leaving the cushion underinflated. One covers the ignition switch, where electrical contacts can degrade under the current passing through the switch and cause the engine to stall without warning. Two cover the rear seat belt buckle assembly, which was improperly manufactured and could leave the belt difficult to unfasten after a crash. One covers the compressed natural gas tank on CNG-equipped cars, which could rupture and eject from the vehicle if unevenly heated in a severe rear-seat fire. The remaining twelve cover aftermarket replacement headlamp and combination lamp assemblies missing the required amber side reflectors, reducing visibility to other drivers. Owners have filed 300 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are on record for this model year.
