Six recalls are on federal record for the 2008 Super Duty, two on the 6.4L diesel: excess exhaust hydrocarbons can overheat the particulate filter until flame shows at the tailpipe, and the battery positive cable can chafe and short to ground. A third covers driver's seats whose lumbar support welds can let the pivot bracket crack in a crash. Owners have filed 337 complaints with NHTSA, led by steering at 119, then the engine and cooling at 47 and tires at 28.
