This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty lists four engines, because the new turbocharged 6.0L V8 diesel of 363 cubic inches overlapped with the outgoing turbocharged 7.3L V8 diesel, alongside the 6.8L V10 and 5.4L V8 gasoline engines. Cabs are the four-door crew cab pickup, the two-door standard cab pickup and the four-door extended cab pickup, and trims are Lariat, XL and XLT, three in all. Both diesels get their own procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics, and the same is true of the two gasoline engines.

Known issues on the 2003 F-250 Super Duty. Six recalls are on federal record for 2003, two of them for the speed control deactivation switch: on diesel trucks it can cause a fire with the engine on or off, on gasoline trucks it can overheat and burn. The 7.3L diesel's camshaft position sensor can also stall the engine, and replacement tail lamp parts can fail. Owners have filed 178 complaints with NHTSA, 67 on the engine and cooling, 18 on tires and 15 on steering. Speed control circuit wiring diagrams, diesel sensor diagnostics, lighting, cooling and steering procedures and specifications in the manual cover those systems.
