Known issues on the 2004 Regal. The federal record shows two recalls against the 2004 Regal. Certain cars built within a specific production window could have a leaking valve cover gasket, letting oil fall onto the hot exhaust manifold and raising the risk of fire; dealers removed a plastic engine cover and oil fill tube extension and replaced the front valve cover and gasket. The second covered certain cars previously repaired for oil that could drip onto the manifold, because that repair did not remove the risk. Owners filed 66 complaints, 35 on the electrical system, 18 on the engine and 5 on stability control, and 2 complaints reported a fire.
