Known issues on the 2002 Regal. The 3 recalls on the 2002 Regal concern engine oil and heat. Certain cars with the naturally aspirated V6 could drip oil onto a hot exhaust manifold when braking hard, and certain supercharged cars could leak oil there from a front rocker cover gasket that may degrade early at higher temperatures; either could start an underhood fire. The third reached certain cars already repaired for that risk, because the first fix was not enough, and fitted an improved valve cover and gasket. Owners filed 117 complaints, 36 on the electrical system and 33 on the engine; 2 reported a crash, 23 a fire and 3 an injury. Engine and cooling procedures, specifications and torque values address that area.
