Known issues on the 1989 Regal. Seven recalls name the 1989 Regal. A faulty stoplamp switch on certain cars could leave the brake lights dark or flickering, and on cars with cruise control it could let the set speed resume once the brake pedal was released; an improved switch was the fix. On certain cars the front shoulder belt guide loop fastener could tear through its door anchor plate. Certain cars with specific Kelsey-Hayes steel wheel options were recalled for cracks at the wheel mounting face.
