Known issues on the 1999 Regal. There are 6 recalls for the 1999 Regal. On certain cars, with the key on, the antilock brake motor could short to its case and ground through a flexible brake pipe, heating it enough to melt a nearby plastic fuel hose and start an underhood fire. Certain cars with the naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 could drip oil onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking. On certain cars the low beams lit overhead signs too weakly. The 246 complaints are led by the engine with 49 and engine and engine cooling with 43; 8 reported a crash, 44 a fire, 7 an injury and 1 a death. Brake and electrical diagnostics cover those systems.
