Seven of them cover aftermarket headlight, corner, and combination lamp assemblies sold as replacement equipment for the Civic that were built without the required amber side reflectors, which can leave the vehicle poorly illuminated and raise the risk of a crash. Another covers paint applied in the windshield mounting area, where poor adhesion between paint layers can cause the windshield to lose retention and separate from the vehicle without warning. Another covers the front seat belt buckle release button, which can break and drop pieces into the buckle assembly, causing the buckle to operate improperly and reducing crash protection. The last covers the automatic transmission, where an improperly machined internal shaft can keep the park pawl from fully engaging, letting the vehicle roll away while parked.
