Known issues on the 1983 Regal. One recall is on the federal record for the 1983 Regal, and it applied to certain cars with a particular engine installation. On those, the rear brake pipe leaving the master cylinder could rub against a bracket on the air cleaner resonator for long enough to wear a leak; the fix was to check the clearance, bend the pipe back where it fell short and replace any pipe already worn. Owners filed 4 complaints, spread one apiece across engine and engine cooling, seat belts, hydraulic service brakes and visibility, and 1 of them reported a fire. The manual's procedures, specifications and torque values address the brake hydraulics and the engine bay.
