The 2013 Toyota Sequoia is Toyota's full-size, body-on-frame SUV, sharing its chassis and much of its hardware with the Tundra pickup of the same era. For this model year it ran the 5.7L V8 (3UR-FE, and the flex-fuel 3UR-FBE), in rear-wheel and four-wheel drive form. Torque values, clearances and diagnostic routines shifted across the Sequoia's production run, so a figure that fits a neighboring year, or the Tundra it shares parts with, is not automatically the 2013 Sequoia number.

Known issues on the 2013 Sequoia. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year, two of them against the hydraulic power assist steering system. The first covers JTEKT power steering gear assembly service parts for 2007-2021 Tundra and 2008-2022 Sequoia; the second covers 2008-2022 Sequoia and 2007-2021 Tundra vehicles whose power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly. In both, an oil leak may cause a sudden loss of power steering assist, increasing the risk of a crash. The third, from Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC, covers 2013-2017 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia vehicles accessorized with Southeast Toyota accessory 20-inch Rockstar wheels, and falls under wheel lug hardware: lugnuts that crack and detach may cause the wheels to separate from the vehicle. NHTSA's records for the 2013 Sequoia also hold 16 owner complaints and 165 technical service bulletins.
A steering gear that has begun to leak, an inspection of the wheel and lug hardware, and routine service on the 5.7L V8 are the jobs that record points at, and each one is held to Toyota's own 2013 Sequoia specification rather than a number borrowed from an adjacent year.
