For 2005 the Toyota Sequoia ran Toyota's 4.7L V8 (2UZ-FE), offered in SR5 and Limited form. This service and repair manual is written to that year of the Sequoia, so the specifications it quotes are the ones Toyota published for 2005 rather than values carried over from an adjacent model year.

Known issues on the 2005 Sequoia. Nine recalls are on federal record against this vehicle. Two cover the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator module, where an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. Two more, recorded under air bags, concern the passenger's frontal air bag inflator in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of that air bag. A fifth, under side and window air bags, warns that if the side curtain-shield air bags deploy unexpectedly, it can increase the risk of occupant injury. Two concern the front lower control arm ball joint: the earlier campaign traces to possible improper finishing of the front suspension lower ball joint, where some ball joints may experience an incidental deterioration of the internal lubrication, while a later one covering aftermarket ball joints warns that a ball joint failure may cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash. The last two are a labeling recall for failing to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, tire selection and rims, where a driver may overload a vehicle which may increase the risk of a crash, and a front seat heater recall in which, if damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have logged 558 complaints against the 2005 Sequoia and Toyota has issued 99 technical service bulletins for it.
Whether the job is checking an air bag inflator campaign against the VIN, inspecting the front lower ball joints for play, or chasing a dead seat heater circuit, the procedure and the figure you work to are Toyota's own for the 2005 Sequoia.
