Two of them land on the hydraulic power assist steering gear assembly — one on assemblies that may have been manufactured incorrectly, one on JTEKT power steering gear assembly service parts — where an oil leak may cause a sudden loss of power steering assist, increasing the risk of a crash. Two more cover the power window devices and controls: on the first, the switch may overheat and melt, possibly resulting in a fire; on the second, the sliding electrical contacts may not be protected by lubricant. Another covers the accelerator pedal, which may become hard to depress or slow to return to idle. A tire pressure monitoring recall addresses a failure to warn of tire deflations, a non-compliance with FMVSS 138 that could lead to tire failure. A seat heater recall covers a copper strand heating element that, if damaged, may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. The remaining recall, from Gulf States Toyota, is a labeling non-compliance with the federal tire selection and rims standard, where the label does not meet the standard requirements.
